Find the spirit of Buddha within the silence.
Refresh your body and mind as you become absorbed in copying sutras and Buddhist images.
The sutras were originally Buddha’s sermons. Passed down through oral tradition since around 1BCE, the teachings were first copied onto palm leaves in India. The earliest written evidence of the sutras in Japan can be found in Nihon Shoki
(Chronicles of Japan), compiled in 674.
Participants lay thin sheets of washi paper over uncolored, outlines of genuine Buddhist images and copy them.
This activity brings you closer to the figure of Buddha.
